Working through the Stress

In the interest of getting back into this whole blogging thing... Here is something I actually managed to finish during all this craziness. It hasn't been a productive few weeks, but the sewing I did manage was so calming! I really appreciated having a hobby that could take my mind off things for a while.

Without further ado...

just the essentials clutch exterior paper pieced star

I love how the orange and grey turned out together. The little star is paper pieced from a pattern I drew up myself. I feel like I put the strap on the wrong side, though. Is there a right side for a wrist strap?

Designing this was good therapy. I again added card slots to the inside and a pocket for a phone or cash. This one is a little different inside than the others. The others had the card slots built into the side. This one has them built into the pocket, if that makes sense. I know this photo isn't much help because it looks like there's just six card slots. But the top one is actually one whole pocket.

Would anyone be interested in a little tutorial for these? And also, where do you think is better for the card slots- built into one side of the pouch or on the front of the cash/phone pocket?

  1. I would love a tutorial for this. This is exactly what I've been looking for, a place to put my cards, cash and phone, and not a ton of other stuff. I love the grey and orange together, and the little star is adorable.

  2. Yes, a tutorial! I need to stop making excuses and start making pouches! I don't think I have a preference for where the card slots are... though thinking about it I think I prefer them along the sides (like yours) and not in the middle; I'm just remembering a wallet I had that had a middle section (where the coins went) and the card slots were against that. Made it kind of hard to get the cards in and out when there were too many coins bulging in the pocket!!

  3. The grey and orange look great together, the little star is so cute, the orange quilting sets it off nicely.

  5. I would love to see a tutorial on this and the slots on the inside would be helpful on one side and a pocket on the other.

  7. Its great...in my opinion the strap IS on the right side....otherwise if the zip were not closed properly coins or other small thing could fall out if it was the other way up (or down, if you see what i mean). Yes please, a tutorial would be great.
