Remember when I said I was going to be trying paper piecing for the first time? It's been so much fun!
I am making a paper pieced Tardis, which was the first block in the Doctor Who Along over at Trillium designs. Here's what I have done so far:
It's almost starting to look like a Tardis!! :D The instructions say this isn't a beginner block, but I really haven't had much trouble with them. Of course, I haven't started piecing the tiny bits that make up the light on top, so we'll see. I just love it, though! It does create a bit of a mess, though...
But even still, I think paper piecing is going to be a recurring thing for me. I love how precise it is! I would never be able to piece such little pieces otherwise. At least, not so well. It is still a little crooked in places, but it is my first try, so I'm not being too hard on myself :) I am planning on making the finished block into a little wall hanging for a friend's birthday. And then maybe I'll make one for myself, too!
I really want to get this finished tonight! We'll see, though. What are you working on?
Linking up to WiP Wednesday with Lee at Freshly Pieced!
This looks fantastic! And doesn't look crooked at all! Good luck with light :)
ReplyDeleteLooks brilliant, it was my first attempt at paper piecing too trying this block, it all went well until I tried to join the two halves down the centre and then it didn't quite match up, I had to unpick it all and take the paper off and pin it to death but it worked in the end! Good luck with yours!
ReplyDeleteThose window panes are incredible - you are totally rocking this!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! I recently tried paper piecing for the first time too and was surprised to learn it wasn't as hard as I'd imagined. I didn't tackle anything so complicated as this, though!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and exciting!!!! I'm really excited to see you paper piecing, it's something I'm hoping to try here soon because the BRIDGE IS DONE. Keep up the awesome work!
ReplyDelete<<runs and hides ... paper piecing usually ends in a fuller trash bin and a nervous break down that needs a serious chocolate treatment. The telephone booth?/ cell? (dictionary where art thou?) looks really good!
ReplyDeleteDoctor Who along? How did I not know about this? Your Tardis is coming along beautifully!
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I think I just might try some paper piecing now too, and as always I love your perspective that you don't expect everything in the block to be A+ perfect, but it's wonderful just as it is. And oh my gosh Couch the bridge is done?! I hope you can blog again soon!
